Message from the
executive mayor
Dear Absa Cape Epic
RIDERS
It has been a challenging year for all, dealing with the uncertainties of COVID-19. We have missed hosting you in our beautiful City for your annual Absa Cape Epic encounter.Having prepared and put in place strict COVID-19 safety measures, we are looking forward to welcoming you back to our stunning City for you to enjoy this spectacular event in a safe environment.
This edition of the Absa Cape Epic is important to our City, as it will assist in showcasing our resilience as well as our ability to host events successfully during a global pandemic. Cape Town has worked hard to provide new opportunities to continue hosting events safely and ensure the recovery and revitalisation of the events sector and the economy. We also want to thank the Absa Cape Epic team for all the effort they have put in to deliver this event and for continuously showing confidence by choosing Cape Town as a host city. Cape Town is ready to show off its gritty mountain bike trails and cyclist-friendly infrastructure.
Despite challenges faced by the country and the world, we want you to know that Cape Town is open for business. This means you will have the opportunity to explore all the city’s famous attractions including Table Mountain (recently voted Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2020) and the V&A Waterfront, the first attraction in the country to adopt the World Travel and Tourism Council’s Safe Travels stamp protocols.Cape Town is open, safe and ready to host you.
All the best
Dan Plato
